Jenn

Jenn has been teaching voice for over 20 years and is passionate about training female voices, specializing in middle and high school voices. She believes that a clear understanding of how your voice works and a methodical approach to technique allows students to build a beautiful, free, and healthy sound. With a degree in vocal performance and extensive experience as a choral singer and soloist, Jenn brings a wealth of knowledge to each of her students. She believes that once you know how to use your voice you can excel in solo, choral, jazz, and music theater repertoire.

Jenn has successfully prepared students who have been selected for junior & senior districts, all states, all easterns, and nationals. Her students have consistently been chosen for select ensembles and cast as leads in musical theater productions. She has also guided many students thru the process of applying and recording auditions for college music degrees and has had students accepted in schools such as McGill University, Ithaca College, St. Olaf College, Frost School of Music at Miami University, the Hartt School of music at the University of Hartford, Temple, Arizona University, Philadelphia University of the Arts, Emerson, and Boston Conservatory.

She emphasizes becoming a well-rounded musician with training in sight-reading, ear training, tonal memory and music theory weaved into her vocal instruction. All of these skills will equip her students to be expressive and confident singers.

Testimonials

As a choral conductor, I am thrilled when any of my students want to study with Jenn. They always emerge from their studies with Jenn with more confidence, more secure and educated vocal technique, more musicianship, and improved sight-reading skills. I can’t recommend Jenn enough!
— Abby Frost, Choral Director for Ipswich High School
I wholeheartedly recommend Jennifer Schmunk as a music instructor for your child. Jenn is very gifted as a voice and piano teacher. Her passion for and excellence in music makes her an incredible resource. She has helped my child get into Senior Districts, Allstates and finally Nationals for choir.
She is patient, kind and gives invaluable feedback. I respect her tremendously as a music educator. My daughter has benefited greatly under her tutelage; and genuinely enjoys and looks forward to her lessons with her.
She is a Gem!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Very high praise for Schmunk Voice Studio. Daniel Schmunk worked with my Son Louis Brogna for years and helped Louis prepare for college auditions. Dan taught Louis the foundation for strong vocal practices. Louis graduated from the Boston Conservatory, and is now pursuing a career in musical theater. While my daughter Ionelee Brogna was at Mt. Holyoke, Jenn Schmunk guided Ionelee’s vocal technique and improvement. Jenn challenged Ionelee to increase her vocal range and repertoire, which increased Ionelee’s confidence. Jenn and I spent many a Fun Friday trying to improve my voice before work got in the way. Jenn and Dan both teach with patience and humor. “Do, or Do Not, There is No Try.”
— Denise Brogna, Partner at Donavan Hatem
